Work with Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
Backup GPOs
Before you can use Group Policy Object restore or rollback features, you must configure the backup setting for GPOs as follows.
- The Backup GPO check box must be selected in the Settings dialog box. For more information, please see Save GPO Data Retrieved During a Collection.
- The scope of the collector must include the domain container System – Policies.
- Microsoft Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) must be deployed to the server where the Auditor server service is running.
Note: A backup is not created if there are no changes between when the last backup was saved and when the collector runs again.
Note: When Cygna Auditor for AD and Recovery for AD are installed, the Auditor for AD agent initiates an automatic backup of a GPO approximately 15 minutes after it was last edited regardless of the Recovery for AD collector schedule.
Work with Microsoft Group Policy Management Console (GPMC)
You can use GPMC to create backups and manage them. With the Manage Backups window, you can restore GPO settings, delete a backup, or view the settings for backups. For more information on using GPMC to manage your backup files, refer to GPMC documentation.
